About Me

“Words mean more than what is set down on paper.  It takes the human VOICE to infuse them with deeper meaning” (Maya Angelou)

Greetings! My name is David Boese and I’m the author of this blog.  I currently live in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.  Being 73, I am somewhat past my best-before date and have survived 7 heart attacks; so, there must be a reason why I’m still around. It’s a good thing too, because I feel I have an important message about monetary reform.

I got interested in monetary issues about 30 years ago, having read a book by Gary Allen, “None Dare Call it a Conspiracy,” in which he outlines the fallacies of money creation and distribution. Around the same time, I got interested in economics by reading Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” and I hung on every word.  Not any more!

Systems come and go and even if my model “New Age Monetary and Economic Model” were adopted, it would not last forever.  However, given the economic circumstances we are confronted with today, it may well be a good segue for future models.  I do not want to presuppose that I’m clairvoyant, but I knew about “bubbles” being created and then bursting and somehow in 2005 I felt an economic downturn was imminent, which prompted me to put down on paper my ideas on how to solve this economic crisis.

So what are my credentials when it comes to being an advocate for monetary, economic and political reform?

Well, in a single word, none! Only a quote from Yogi Bera solidifies my position “you can observe a lot, just by watching.”  So, I’ve been doing a lot of “watching.” I can also tell you what I’m not and that is an economist. This, I think is a good thing, for economists can’t think out-side the proverbial box. They can only stay the course they were taught/brainwashed. There is a place for them, but it’s not in problem solving.

Going back to the top of  this page’s quotation, where does that leave me? Well, it’s quite certain that I can’t do this alone and I feel that I’m a lucky man, having two critics/editors, first my wife, Shirley Hunt and Ashley Clayton, who also is my tech support. So presently I am just one VOICE that I hope to turn into a chorus of thousands. The most important word in my vocabulary is “engagement” and I would like for everyone who reads this, to become engaged, in activating their mind and lending their VOICE to the cause of making this a better world to live in.

Congratulations, Dave, on the launch of your blog. I look forward to the unfolding of this new venture, a brave initiative inasmuch as any effort to swim against the tide takes courage. And then there are the admirable traits of passion, dedication and plain old hard work. I wish you and your cohorts Shirley and Ashley every success.

I found the blog ‘narrative’ articulate and easy to understand. The well-chosen quotes that capture the essence of your philosophy will resonate with many no doubt. A large ring of truth sounded in your Mission statement with the words “….the slavery of debt”.

Too bad the words ‘Common Sense Revolution’ have become so tainted as they capture in my mind the spirit of the Model and the ESD party. Society has come to a pass where common sense has been foiled by greedy obfuscators. The recent meltdown has shown us ‘the man behind the curtain’. Bet you knew he was there all along!

I do hope your efforts gain traction and create the momentum needed for restoring the principles of democracy. Good Luck!

    • Thanks so much Joan for those kind supportive comments. It’s almost overwhelming already and it won’t be long I believe where I’ll need lots of help. We’ll keep in touch.

  2. Go for it, David!

When I started by organising the first “Local Exchange Trading System” (LETS), I didn’t know about the national debt and learnt more than I ever wanted to know about monetary reform!

I still feel I’m a lone voice even though I’ve got quite a few hits on my various websites.

But there are so many challenges on so many levels. At least we can do what you did: start another WordPress blog!

There is total magic behind those guys who created it and bring you visitors from “behind the screens”.

Spreading the word, shining our light, what else is worth doing as we try to live with a good conscience?

With best wishes for your blogging elbows,
    Sabine [just published http://www.publicdebts.wordpress.com

    • Hi Sabine
Thanks for reading my blog and for recommending it to a friend of yours. Good for you for organizing LETS. I’ve read a lot recently of different communities creating their own currency. If our governments’ don’t smarten up soon, they may find themselves in a real financial pickle!
Sabine, would you mind telling me what country you live in and what community. It may be in here somewhere, but I’ve got a lot to learn about blogs and the things in them!

      • Hi, David,

I am originally German and have lived in London after 15 years in Geneva. Now I’m “left of Berlin”, in Brandenburg, looking after my mum who saved me from the bombings of Dresden. She’ll be 88 soon.

My Canadian friend has looked in, and I’ve encouraged him to help you get a stable currency system. But most people want to pursue their own ideas rather than join foces, it seems…

        Let’s keep connecting anyway!

        Sabine

      • Thanks for your response to my question. Other than the fact that we live in different countries, we have something in common. I was born in Canada, but my parents came from Russia, but originally from Germany and we always spoke German at home. I’m not saying that I’m fluent in German, but can get by speaking the language.
Ach du lieber! Again, although I’m concerned about the economic problems facing Canada, we will soon enough find out that the monetary situation will become a world-wide phenomenon. I kind of think you agree that many of the solutions to these problems can be found in my model.

  3. Yes, yes, David,

the challenge is to turn your model into reality! That means changing a lot of people’s heads!

    S

    • Sabine, it’s been some time since we communicated and I was just wondering how things are going for you. For me nothing much has changed except I’m aging and turned 75 last June. The financial crises world wide are deepening and perhaps some of our ideas will come to light.

Are your still living in Brandenburg?

      Cheers
      David

  4. To: Dear Dave Boese (age 73)
From: John Gelles (age 84, born end of September 1925)

    1. Thanks for putting my http://www.profoundwisdom.info as a link on your blog site.

    2. My site asks only that you do what you have done. My link to your site will be up very shortly. It will be at the bottom of my homepage and repeated on my links page.

    3. My idea is fundamentally that all sites on the network (discussed on my site) shall be independent and have objectives very similar to your own. Your site certainly fits the bill. Independence means whatever I say to you is friendly and not meant to be taken too seriously.

    4. Your site will soon be so full up it will be unreadable in less than a day, week or month. (Mine is of course worse. Criticism is easy, self improvement is not.)

    5. My motto is to ask for very little change from what we have. Realistically, that is all we can hope for. But that little change must do a huge amount of good.
The change I want is for democracies to draw up full-employment budgets–not budgets whose practical effect demands unemployment enough to make life miserable for human beings. It used to be the case that many workers would for-sure produce less than they needed to consume. Therefore they had to suffer some misery. Today, robots and automation produce gazillions of stuff we all need and consume nothing. There is more than enough “stuff that money can buy” for full employment. BUT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MONETIZED DEMAND to buy it.

6.On addition to that ONE change above we need a SECOND. We need treasury inflation protected savings accounts, private and public, to allow people of modest wealth to save money away from all market risk.

    7. That, more or less, is where I am , after 30 years of promoting the civil right to work at a union wage.

    8. Congratulations on where you are (your team seems admirable.) Please reply and consider that if you grow your readers and writers they will smother their own effort if you do not figure out how to maintain a simple and effective purpose as reading time grows and purpose changes from doing something to doing everything-meaning-nothing.

  5. I do like to the two small changes with big effects, dear John Gelles!!!

It’s just easier to change ourselves than those who could make these changes happen, isn’t it…

    BEST OF LUCK!!!

    Sabine

I really enjoyed your explanation on Money.

The only thing it didn’t tell me is why I don’t have any or where I can get some. Like ABBA says, “money, money, money, it’s a rich man’s world”.

I know I will read your entire blog when I have the time because I like the way you write.

    • Merillyn, thanks for your thoughtful comment. I look forward to hearing more from you, especially to answer any questions you may pose. Last night on the “Agenda” a TVO program they debated a “Guaranteed Annual Income” which has been debated for almost 50 years. Senator Hugh Segal is spearheading this initiative and maybe with him it may gain some traction. So, I’m not the inventor of this idea, however I have a unique element in my model, which is a two tier money creation and distribution system. Also, in the program they never once mentioned the role banks play in our present economic system. This is crucial and I hope someday they will invite me to explain.

      cheers
      David

  7. The biggest public campaign has started to abolish fractional reserve system and demanding a banking system that works FOR society and not against it. Visit http://www.POSITIVEMONEY.org.uk website and JOIN the CAMPAIGN! …and spread the word.

  8. Hi David,
Thank you for your voice and passion for monetary sanity. This is an idea that literally people have nothing more valuable to understand! All together, our voices contribute to critical mass to end our national “debt supplies” for the banksters’ good, and begin “money supplies” for the public’s good.

    • Hi Carl
Thanks so much for reviewing my blog and for your insightful comment. I hope we can find a way to work together. Perhaps a link to our respective websites would be a good start?
